City prepares for next wave of visitors

Free local transport for DDR tourists

Visitors from the DDR will be granted free travel on local trains and buses (operated by FVV). Banks and post offices will hand out the 100 DM welcome gift. The City of Frankfurt will provide meals, the German Red Cross will do the distribution. Shop opening times (which were a that time very restricted) will be extended if the trade unions cooperate.
