Before I start, a little note: This page has been around since mid-1994
(albeit with often-changing content and some moves in between). That
was a time when a ".com" in a newspaper advertisment would have been
considered "too freaky"... so show some respect, will you :-)?
Basic data
Worked for the German branch of an American technology
consulting company for just over a year; various freelance IT projects
after that (I'll do pretty much anything as long as it's in an interesting
place, a compelling task, nice people and a good salary... :-)
Submitted my thesis on May 15th, 1998; now I have a diploma in
industrial engineering and management (University of Karlsruhe). I
don't really know how all this could happen, I guess I thought you have
to learn something to earn something. In retrospective, my time in
Karlsruhe was a time of few studies and many interesting side
activities. Take a look at the flat I lived in
during my time in Karlsruhe.
before that I worked with BUND, a German environmental organisation,
for about a year. This was a compulsory "civil service" which you
could do instead of military service if you convinced the army that
you'll never be able to shoot anybody, and I guessed I'd not be of
much use to the army. Then again, who knows what I would have
done there...
went to school in Frankfurt/M-Höchst and Ratingen (near Düsseldorf);
some humoristic recollections are available
on-line but unfortunately they're in German only.
born on 21st of January, 1972 in Berlin-Charlottenburg
Music - I constantly fail to produce anything worth hearing with
my synthesizer, but here's a list of CDs
I like listening to
Flying - I obtained my private pilot license in June 2000 and I read
a lot about flying and space travel. If Scotland doesn't work out
as I planned it, I'll be one of the first colonists on Mars.
My computer activites consume all the time that's left. (As you would
expect.)
Important Pillars of my World View
the scientific principle, free-market economy, and Tiramisu
are good,
religious fundamentalists, socialism, nationalism, psi believers, and
cable TV are evil,
in the long run, we'll all be dead (quoting a great economist)
