Krenz: Unification is not on the agenda

Berlin (dpa) - The unification of the two German states is not on the agenda, according to the GDR state and party boss, Egon Krenz. The West German chancellor, Helmut Kohl, had mentioned that unification was a goal written down in the Western constitution, but that, said to Krenz, was Kohl's problem, not his. "As a representative of the GDR, it is my priority to emphasize that there a two absolutely souvereign German states which should get on well together." He said that he'll try to improve cooperation between the two but he'll always act in the best interests of the GDR.
